The release of the successor of iOS 7 and the eighth major iOS mobile operating system iOS 8 designed by Apple Inc. was announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2014 on 2nd day of June 2014.
Apple iOS 8 was finally released on 17th day of September 2014. The promises provided by Apple on the release new iOS 8 made its popularity reach unprecedented levels. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus reached record sales due to the advanced features provided by iOS 8.
Immediately after the release of this new mobile operating system, millions of Apple users updated their devices. But download issues and subsequent usage issues were reported with this new mobile software.
The major issue was with the downloading the software itself. Most of the users where irritated as the download took a long time for installation and also that it consumes lot of storage space of almost one Giga Bytes (1 Giga B) on a Apple device.
And also while downloading the iOS 8 the software requires minimum of 5 GB free space. All the users who were using iOS 8 compatible devices like iPhone 4S and above; iPad2 and above; iPad Air; iPod Touch – 5th generation or iPad Mini Retina faced the same problem.
That too the users were also forced to remove the images, videos and other apps from the device before the installation. This problem was predominant with devices having 8GB storage space. Even if the user has an older Apple device, then after installation there were subsequent usage problem to the uses.
Immediately after the installation of the new OS few of the earlier applications stopped their functionality. Another peculiar problem was that if the download of iOS 8 gets struck up on the device, the users were left in vain without the option of having the old OS automatically on the device.
It was very tough time for these users until they had their older OS or at least find a solution to download the new iOS 8 completely. This ultimately forced Apple to release an iOS 8.0.1 update after one week from the day of launching the new OS.
It was actually released to fix the earlier issues but that was not actually happening. The most frustrating problems like affecting the basic functions, the Touch ID started malfunctioning immediately after the installation of iOS 8.0.1 update were reported by the users.
Most of the problems reported by the users after installing this new update were the display of no service, toggling airplane mode or powering the phone off which were even worse than the earlier complaints.
Following these reports from the users, again the Apple removed the faulty update immediately. The sources say that even before Apple removed this update back within an hour of its release; almost 40,000 people were affected by the new update.
After 24 hours of time, Apple published a support site for all the users affected by the earlier faulty iOS. This support site offered a step by step instruction on how to reinstall iOS 8 successfully.
In this support site, Apple also apologized for the great inconvenience to the users and also informed that the company will come up with the solutions for fixing all the existing issues. So far the latest iOS 8.0.2 has fixed the major issues of iOS 8 including the third party keyboards integration with new Apple’s app like Health.
It also helped in restoring the basic functions as well as the Touch ID of their devices. As far as the download space requirement problem, Apple also recommended the users to use iTunes 11.4 version for downloading it.
The users were instructed to take complete backup of their device either using iCloud or iTunes.
However, the users still expecting Apple to release a final update clearing out all the existing doubts about with iOS 8.0.2 at the earliest.
